Friday’s Mission

Waking up this morning we knew today would be the last day at the school and with the kids who we have gotten to know this week. It’s hard to believe that this part of our trip is coming to a close. We also had to come to terms with eating our last fantastic breakfast at our favorite bakery. It was great to be at the school today. It was a smaller crowd today with exams over and the end of school closing in. We also only had a half day left at the school. We were able to accomplish a lot in this short time. We finished our project in the library and spent our last hours in the classes and on the playground with the kids.
After our final hugs we got our send off from Principal Rodney. He spoke of the impact of our work and how much the school appreciates  groups like ours that come to volunteer time. We thanked him and the Holy Cross staff for allowing us the opportunity to come and be there and to gain so much from them and this experience.
After a tearful goodbye we headed out to enjoy our first afternoon excursion snorkeling to Hol Chan Reef and Shark Ray Alley. We were ready to swim with the sharks, see stingrays, eels, sea turtles and tons of colorful fish.
Edit
We successfully all made it out alive! 🦈
There was a lot to be thankful for today!
